Ringo and the Mythical Snowflake

On a wintery desert eve, a ringtail cat and his pals–a vermilion flycatcher and a junco–spot a flash of icy radiance among the yucca and palafoxia. 
“The mythical hundred-year snowflake!” Ringo exclaims. 
“It’s huge!” the birds agree. “Quick! Let’s make our greatest wish for the next century!” 
Taking a deep breath of chilly air, with closed eyes, they imagine the entire earth glowing with peace and beauty. Minutes later, they see the snowflake fluttering toward the stars.
